Best Approach in Hiring a Virtual Assistant

Hiring a virtual assistant is a great way to anticipate the seasonal work load, those busy times of the year when you need an extra set of helping hands. Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas need not be very taxing for you, as your new virtual assistant can deliver any administrative task on demand that a traditional office secretary would. You'd be surprised that a remote virtual staffer can actually be more effective in keeping your business side of things together while your away.

The best approach in hiring a VA is to do a trial run with them- if they can handle simple instructions in a given timeframe without falling apart then your VA shows some promise. Also do ask for a complete work history of the virtual assistant before hiring. This will help you gauge what tasks your VA is capable of handling on a daily basis.

Make sure your VA gives you a thorough report at the end of the day of what she has accomplished and how many hours was spent performing certain tasks. Therefore, you will be in the know regarding their work status, if things are getting done on time and if your VA is worth the money your spending on.

Remember, do not let any mistakes pass uncorrected, otherwise this will become a standard way of things or bad habits for your VAs. Immediately as it happens, explain why you do not want things done this way, let them know what you feel are mistakes. No one can ever learn to do things your way without your input.

Spend at least two to three hours per day for training on the first week. Afterwards, if your VA is performing well and has reached a level you're comfortable with, you can let go of the training wheels and leave her doing the tasks you sought out to hire her for. Best of Luck!
